Monkey See, Monkey Do
on August 4, 2014Chapter: Chapter 6: Secret Origins
Characters: Nacho, Wacky Monkeys
Location: Costa Rica, Electrical Substation
Hot Summer Days!
Hello, Wacky Readers! I’m so happy to have finished this page. It was a bit of a challenge and I hope the storytelling works well for you.
Nacho decided it was best to help instead of hurt the monkey.
Always Do What’s Right
You never know who might be watching. But it’s always a good thing when you do the right thing because others will see that and copy you (hopefully)! Nacho is modelling good behavior and I think it might catch on. We see the monkey looks for a way to help Sandia.
Next week we will see what happens! Take care and have fun,
Joseph :O)
Perfect title for a perfect direction for the story! 😀
Thanks, Bill! My kids and students are always copying me so I have to be very careful to lead by example.
Now I wonder if the wacky monkeys will reciprocate and help rescue Sandia?
I hope so, Peter! One good deed deserves another! But who knows what these wacky monkeys will do!
I really like the design aspects in these panels, Joseph! You’ve packed so much information into that first panel, too… amazing!
Thanks, Mark! I try to set an establishing shot in each page with info on the setting and how the characters are in relation to one another. I try not to over do it with detail. My wife is always telling me to keep it simple.
So glad Nacho didn’t kill the monkey. Now I hope his intention is to help Sandia no hurt her.
Me too! And maybe they’ll end up being friends after all this is over!
I knew he’d do the right thing!
Nacho is a righteous man. But there may be other tests for him in the near future!
Wow! So elaborate! This must have taken weeks! Excuse the Exclamation points!!
Thank you, Mike! It took me a long time to get this one together. Hopefully the next page won’t take as long.
It’s a case of monkey see, monkey do!
I certainly hope so, Jerry!
As long as it’s not “monkey see monkey doo doo!” 😀
hahaha! XD
OH! That would have been a great thing to add in here, Chris! You’re hired as my consultant! Do you accept IOUs? My banana supply is in the red.
A good Nacho always retains integrity, even when things get hot. Cheesy pun, I know.
Yes! Cheese gladly accepted and encouraged here, Jason! Nacho doesn’t like to be a soggy sap! :OP
So much content in your panels Joseph! Do you use a lot of pics for resources? Really like the direction things are going. Touching and tense!
Thanks, Mat! I Googled electrical transformers and substations for references on my drawings. Whatever I couldn’t figure out I just made up. So yes, there’s a lot of photo reference in these pages!
I veered off the goofy stuff for a bit and tried to inject some type of emotion here. Hopefully it pays off.
Cool direction to stretch out a bit. Looking forward to more!
Thanks, Brad! I’m having fun with it – and there’s more fun to be had!
There is a bear in the cave
Yes! And he has green hair! :OP
That first panel is amazingly well designed. So much story JUST in that panel! Great work and SUCH sad eyes… you reallllllly packed some emotion into this page. And I gotta hand it to ya for making Nacho so noble, and even teaching us a lesson. That’s alot of good stuff to load into Wacky Monkeys! It’s not just all mucous and fur around here, eh, Joseph?
Thank you so much, Haig! When there’s a new scene I do my best to try and show where they are and what’s going on. That way the rest of the scene can play out without so much background detail. As for Nacho, I wanted to go a little deeper with his character even though this is a slap-stick comic.
Haha! Mucous and fur! XD
I love your inkwork, Joseph, but I’m really enjoying seeing this stuff in the pencil stage lately. Great page.-v
Thanks, Vince! I’m having fun with just pencils, but I cannot wait until I get to ink these babies!
